Fuerza Dread is a Costa Rican roots reggae band founded in 2006 in Puntarenas. Their sound blends the essence of reggae with influences from jazz, funk, and rock, developing a distinctive style throughout nearly two decades of music.
The band has shared the stage with internationally renowned artists such as Gondwana, Cultura Profética, Los Cafres, Alborosie, Quique Neira, Damian Marley, and Zona Ganjah, while also performing at major festivals including Envision Festival, FIA, FNA, and Festival Quimera in Mexico.
With three studio albums, Fuerza Dread has received multiple ACAM Awards, including Best Reggae Album, Best Producer, and Best Reggae Single. Their music has also taken them on tours across Mexico, where they established a strong and lasting fanbase.
In 2025, the band received the Semilla Sonora grant to produce Obsidiana, their third studio album, scheduled for release in 2026.
